The door operator on that first car certainly is something... Basic, modern and nice installation. I agree with you at the end about liking Kone, especially recently for me. Although I've seen a lot of KSS 570 especially in Sunnyvale and Cupertino, I definitely think that Kone did the modern aesthetic really well along with improving the overall quality of their elevators since the KSS 500/370 era.

OMG, I remember this one elevator in South Carolina. Pretty sure it was an old Otis. If you were going up, the door would open one foot below the floor, then stop a foot above the floor, then drop to the floor level and bounce.

And I thought some 500A service elevators I've been on held the record for the loudest door operator...

Go to a place in Bucharest you'll be guaranteed to find a rare old Otis elevator named Otis Europa 2000.

No kidding, those elevators are sloooow. I remember riding the one at the Fruitvale Bart station as a kid and that one went massive slow... like dial up internet. I guess we had to wait for the floor to download.

You should really come back to this horrible Montgomery as it’s gotten 10x worse since you’ve been there and I think you should make a video of it. I rode it today and it’s not just bad, it’s gross and creepy. The walls now look like someone took flame thrower to them or they just caught on fire. The floor 5 button doesn’t even work and the indicator only shows an X. The fan doesn’t work anymore so you can hear loud and clear the creepy loud motor that fluctuates volumes along the way along with the two loud thumps along the way. It really needs a video on it in it’s current state. You should film it! It looks like it’s from a horror movie. Also, the other scenic traction Montgomery elevators at the 4th street garage are getting modded. Maybe you should check those out too along with the 2nd street garage one, might be a cool video with both. I bet the 4th street garage ones are gonna be finished in under a month. They’ve been working on them for months now. They’ve got all new call buttons installed on all floors and I bet they’re almost done. They’re only working on the set of two elevators I forget South or North tower but the other three are still the same. Let me know if you’d be interested as it would be so cool to see another video of yours on these!

That's loud. The JCPenney Valley Mall in Hagerstown MD has this original Dover elevator with black buttons, but the door operator sounds like 60 hz electricity on steroids.

That track is very similar to that one internal bridge elevator on Treasure Island. They’re not used often on these kinds of TK’s.

These have interesting dispatching. Ive seen several of these and the second closest car always responds to hall calls. I'm sure there's a reason.

Okay, whoever set these up is genius! Those 2 voices are IDENTICAL to the "red zone/white zone" bit at the beginning of the movie Airplane! This has to be on purpose. Someone has an awesome sense of humor!

Wow, those have got to be some of the most beautiful elevators in the US and the world. Incredible works of moving art in a world-class, Art Deco skyscraper that was almost built 100 years ago. But it sure is sad that you only got to do the mid-rise elevators and not the epic high-rise ones, and are restricted behind turnstiles (thanks 9/11/01), but it's certainly better than nothing.
